Statue of the Virgin Mary of Europe
In the hamlet of Motta, there is this golden-covered-statue, m. 13,50 high, a gift from all European States. At its foot there is the outdoor Sanctuary dedicated to our Lady of Europe, built in the place where there is the center of the European catchment basin, from which the rivers directed to Mediterranean See ( Liro, Adda, Pò ) , to the North Sea ( the Rhein ) and to the Dead Sea (Inn , Danube ) come.European Ecumenical Council Motta was inaugurated by Cardinal Carlo Maria Martini, 1994. Today it is the seat of international conferences regarding peace and ecumenism. |
